Compact and lightweight, even for carrying it with you during your holidays, this 12-Litre Halogen Oven is designed to cook a vast range of foods, from roasts to rice and chips to cakes, while making both cooking and cleaning easier and faster than ever.
The first thing one notices in its design is its 12-litre capacity – easily covering the needs of a medium-sized family – and the transparent lid that allows you to check on your cooking without removing it. Sure, you won’t be able to tuck it under a cupboard, but its shape and dimensions will quickly find a place somewhere on your kitchen top. Unfortunately, it does not come with a stand to place the hot top in while removing cooking. An extender ring would also be nice.
Its controls, analogue twist dials (all on the top), make cooking easy and fast even for inexperienced cooks. There is a timer, settable to as much as 60 minutes, and a thermostat settable up to 250°C – which is more than you will ever need. Standard cooking settings and a self-cleaning function are easy to select, making cooking and cleaning a breeze, even for students who haven’t touched a cooking device again in their life! Just pick the food you wish to enjoy, set the proper temperature, and leave the rest to your smart oven.
Attention! The first time you plan to use the oven, leave it first for at least an hour at room temperature, allowing to acclimatise and thus averting possible damage to the unit.
Once you have your settings in order, pushing the start button is all you need to do. If you notice anything wrong with your set options, just use the respective “cancel” button.
As soon as your meal is ready, let the device cool off, set it on an automatic clean cycle and use it to sterilise the accessories you may have used during your cooking. The oven will do most of the cleaning by itself while you enjoy the “fruit” of your efforts! The cleaning cycle requires a certain amount of cold water and some proper liquid detergent. Place the used accessories inside, and the whole lot will soon be as clean as crystal before you know it!
Like all halogen ovens, this model requires almost half the time to cook an average meal than conventional ovens, while consuming around 0.9 kWh at 2000oC, saving you a lot on electricity bills.
Our first pick makes roasting, steaming, frying, boiling and baking easier than ever while reducing the time and energy cost of your everyday meals. It is also very portable and helps those with limited cooking experience. It could use a stand for the hot top, though, but, at this price, this is hardly a deal-breaker.
Everything we have already mentioned as to fast and economical cooking applies to all the picks in our list, so from now on you should take them for granted. The Quest 43890 is another prime example, cooking a whole chicken in less than half an hour and your favourite pizza in around 10 minutes.
Even smaller than our first pick, but of equal capacity (12 litres), the Quest 43890 cooks faster, reducing the overall cost of your meals, while allowing you to grill, bake, boil, defrost and even roast, and saving you time from your busy daily chores. Combined with the brand’s excellent reputation, both in terms of customer service and quality of products, Quest’s undeniable advantages make it a fantastic pick for couples and small families.

Its durable, transparent glass cooking bowl and lid dominate the whole design of this compact oven, making easy cooking inspection its first priority, wit portability coming next. Unfortunately, we do not have a hinged lid here, so you have to be careful when it is hot. On the other hand, it can easily fit under a cupboard on your kitchen top.
Simple to use – you will figure most its modes out by yourself without even having to read the manual -, it has the temperature dial in its base, along with a 1-hour timer and a handy defrost setting – ideal for busy moms and dads or couples with heave schedules.
Quest’s Halogen Oven also distributes heat evenly, ensuring proper cooking regardless of the ingredients. Requiring a limited amount of oil, or even none, depending on what you are cooking, it is perfect for people that prefer a healthier lifestyle. Among its additional accessories, you will find a cooking rack, designed to help you cook entire meals in one go. Coupled with its extremely generous 12-litre capacity, it certainly caters for the needs of 4-member family. The Daewoo Deluxe 1.7L 1300W Halogen Air Fryer is a mighty oven that will cater to the needs of a couple or a person that needs quick, efficient and cost-effective cooking, and hate washing up after brunch or dinner. Sure, it could use a hinged lid, but, at that price, such a con can easily be overlooked.
Our next pick is another great example of how efficient a halogen oven can be, especially for large families or cooks who love to prepare meals for big parties, allowing you to cook anything you may wish while saving you from the trouble of using all sorts of pans and the scrubbing that usually follows. Chinkyboo cooks faster than conventional ovens and most of its competitors. Combined with an elegant design, numerous features and a monstrous final capacity of 16 litres, this one is just perfect for big families and busy cooks.

Design & Features
Chinkyboo halogen fryer has already gained a reputation for its efficiency, cost-effectiveness and handy features, especially its defrost setting, saving you time from prepping frozen meats and fishes. As you can see, though, all these traits do not come cheap. It costs almost twice as our previous picks and the overall features are pretty much the same. So, the extra cost has to do with the quality and life-cycle of the product.
With a 1300w power and a maximum temperature of 250oC, Chinkyboo’s initial capacity is already big – around 12 litres –, but the extender ring adds another 4-litre capacity, allowing you to cook both small and large amounts of food in a single round.
Another great feature is its generous temperature range, starting from 125o C to 250o C, which enables you to try all sorts of recipes and cook anything, from very simple to rather demanding ingredients. Note that the oven is designed to bake, roast and grill all types of food tastefully and succulently.
Last, we must mention the handy 1-hour timer, which averts any danger of burning your meal accidentally or overcooking your food. On the contrary, it will let you know as soon as it is ready to be served, making sure that is everything is done according to the recipe or your precious cooking experience. The self-cleaning mode is pretty handy too: you just put hot water into it with a few drops of washing detergent and set the program to wash. The rotating air spreads soapy water all over the interior.
This halogen oven comes with some handy accessories, including a reversible rack, allowing for different levels of cooking and affording the oven unique versatility.
Drawbacks? The usual one that is no hinged lid – something we would expect in an oven of that price.
The Chinkyboo halogen oven is easy to use, efficient, cost- and time-effective, and offers a large capacity along with superior construction quality. For its price, though, we would like a stand for the lid.
5. Cooks Professional Halogen Oven – Air Fryer – Value-for-Money

Its halogen oven is designed to cater to the needs of both the seasoned and inexperienced cook and modern demand for speed, low cost and cutting-edge heating technology.
This excellent multipurpose cooker amalgamates all the traits of the convection heating technology with that of the halogen oven, affording the user amazing cooking versatility and a perfect cooking experience, regardless of the meal you are preparing.

Design & Features
Let’s start with a hinged lid, which, as you probably noticed, has been an issue in our previous picks. We had no trouble using it while cooking every time we need to check the food or add an ingredient, and we never had to use our hands to remove it.
With a power rating of 1300 Watts, this model is a bit smaller from all our previous picks, measuring 35 x 43.6 x 33cm, but boasts a far sturdier built and a much more elegant finish. Its charming black-coloured design will do more than just blend in with the rest of your kitchen – it will make it look prettier. The double cell construction also allows the outside to remain cool when in use.
Cooks Professional’ halogen bulb and lightwave technology deserve a special mention since they ensure even heating and cooking, regardless of the preferred type of food, and at surprisingly fast rates. There is a high-performance fan integrated, designed to circulate the hot air so efficiently that negates any need to turn your main ingredients around and minimising energy consumption while expediting the cooking process.
Versatile and easy to use, it comes with six pre-programmed cooking modes, namely Roast, Fry, Bake, Stir Fry, Grill and BBQ. Exactly as promised by the manufacturer, it produced considerably less cooking smells than normal fryers and is super easy to clean – making it perfect for daily use. The non-stick bowl requires little to no oil, while the “Pause Function” on the control panel allows you to open the lid of the air fryer during cooking and pause the oven to add ingredients or adjust the seasoning; meanwhile, all settings are saved but you can check on your meal. The “Keep Warm” function also enables you to keep your meal warm until you are ready to serve.
Another great trait is the self-cleaning function, which proves when used according to the given instructions, surprisingly fast and efficient.
A few words about the impressive list of accompanying accessories are in order. Along with the oven, you get an array of handy tools that will make your life in the kitchen much easier and more joyous, including a fryer basket for instantly frying frozen chips, stirring fry vegetables etc.; a grilling rack allows you to toast or cook pizza, steak, sausages. There is also a rolling cage allowing you to cook homemade chips. The rotisserie skewers are perfect for use with a whole chicken and the tongs allow you to retrieve your treats safely. Of course, you can remove all the accessories and use the appliance as is.
Offering the best possible combination of halogen and convection heating technology, and equipped with a hinged lid and no less than six pre-programmed modes, Cooks Professional halogen oven will cover your needs for healthy meals with all your favourite types of food and ingredients.
Beyond Fashion’s bestselling halogen oven comes with a dual dial control technology for ease of use and better performance. With its nice bright white finish, solid construction, and handy accessories, this model is certainly worth your consideration.

Design & Features
Its 12-litre cooking bowl and lid are made of a robust, BPA-free, heat-safe glass, capable of withstanding high temperatures and bumps (within reason). Having both the bowl and lid transparent allows you to check your food clearly from all angles.
Designed to last, this halogen oven is equipped with a long-lasting and easily (and cheaply) replaceable halogen bulb. This small detail means that, no matter how many years will pass, you will still be able to use the oven, since the bulb is the only part that could only fail. Several cheaper models offer more or less similar features, accessories and performance, but their bulb is not replaceable, which means that, sooner or later, they will end up in the dust bin.
On the top of the lid, you have two nicely designed analogue dials, adjusting the cooking time and temperature, with clearly visible LED lights indicating heat and power and easy-to-read markings regarding cooking times and temperatures, depending on the ingredients and recipe.
Beyond Fashion’s halogen oven uses convection technology for a faster yet energy-effective cooking, thus being capable of preparing a vast range of recipes, from steamed foods to cupcakes, and types of cooking, from baking, stewing, roasting, and toasting, to searing, browning, BBQ, and steaming.
Contrary to most cheaper halogen ovens that require the purchase of several accessories to be properly used, the Beyond Fashion halogen oven comes well-accessorised, including tongs and a high and low rack. Unfortunately, it does not have a lid-stand, which would you to rest the hot lid while checking your cooking or adding spices or other ingredients, making things much easier and safer for you – especially if you are a bit inexperienced in the kitchen. Some sort of hinging on the lid would solve the issue, but, sadly, that is missing too.
Another downside, which we would expect at this price range, is an extender ring, which would allow us to increase the capacity of the bowl and prepare food for a bigger family or company. Still, a 12-litre capacity is large enough for most families and dinner parties.
Considering its quality and ease of use, it is not such a mystery that Beyond Fashion’s halogen oven has become such a popular pick. If it had a stand lid it would probably be among the top three commercial halogen ovens on the market today.
7. NANXCYR Professional Halogen Oven – The Best Choice
Up till now, all our picks were well within the domestic, home-owner range. Our last pick breaks away these chains and offers a combo of far superior quality and performance – at a much higher price of course.
At a Glance
- Brand: NANXCYR

- Colour: Black
- Material: PP plastic + stainless steel
- Colour: Black
- Size: 300 x 360 x 280mm
- Rated power: 1200W

Non-slip mats – bottom four-corner non-slip mats to ensure a smooth and safe body
Over-temperature protection – intelligent temperature control, over-temperature and automatic break in the pot
Design & Features
When you have to pay double the price of the most expensive commercial halogen oven of our list to get the NANXCYR, you reasonably have certain expectations. So, we won’t bother you with commonalities and cut right to the chase.
Made of high-quality PP plastic and stainless steel and featuring a wonderful black gloss finish, NANXCYR is surprisingly compact for an 8-litre halogen oven. With a rated power of 1200 Watts, it distributes heat much more efficiently and evenly than cheaper competitors – which is why it does not need a higher wattage.
This is actually a thing we love about this model – its… “honesty.” It does not try to impress you with exaggerations in settings which are useless and you will never going to use. For example, you have probably noticed some of the previous models featuring temperature ranges of up to 250°C – a setting you will never actually need in a halogen oven prepared recipe. On the contrary, NANXCYR comes with a temperature setting range of 80 to 210°C, which you can actually use. The time range setting is nice too, offering more than an hour and a half of autonomy to the user.
A smart design feature is the fact that the lid and the body of the pot consist one piece, while an elastic control prevents the cover from falling and causing pinching, thus forming a nice anti-dropping protection.
Another great feature is the one-button opening cover (the upper cover of the button is automatically opened, and then the handle can be fully opened) and the open cover power-off protection, which means that once you open the lid the appliance automatically shuts off, but all settings are saved! Just close the lid, and the oven will continue to operate as before. The intelligent temperature control, over-temperature and automatic break in the pot are great pros too, especially if you know that the appliance will be operated by less experienced cooks too.
The food-grade liner comes with a non-stick coating, which means it is durable, yet easy to clean.
True, it is a bit expensive, but it is certainly not overpriced. The NANXCYR halogen oven offers performance and features of superior quality – and, reasonably enough, it there is a price for that.
Halogen ovens are the future of healthy cooking. So, best embrace it and save yourself time, money – and plenty of calories. Of course, you need to know a few things about them to make the right pick.
So, let’s do that.
What is a halogen oven?
A halogen oven is an appliance that uses halogen bulbs as heating elements for cooking. Halogen ovens cook faster than conventional ovens, consume less energy (no preheating is required), they are easy to use and clean, take little space and need little maintenance.
Boasting so many advantages, it’s easy to get why halogen ovens have become so popular recently.
How does a halogen oven work?
A halogen oven is equipped with one or more specially designed halogen bulbs that create high levels of infrared heat waves. Advanced halogen ovens also utilize convective technology, that is fans circulating the heat throughout the oven, ensuring an even dispersion and penetration of the heat and, thus, perfect cooking. The circulating air can also be used in a self-cleaning mode cycle, dispensing detergent dissolved in water all around the interior of the oven and rinsing it.
What are the advantages of the halogen oven?
Halogen ovens cook at least 40% faster than electric and gas ovens are energy-efficient (they do not need preheating), they are easy to use and clean, require little space and need little maintenance.
Halogen ovens are also very versatile, featuring multiple functions and types of cooking, such as baking, broiling, stewing, roasting, toasting, searing, browning, BBQ, steaming, reheating, frying, grilling, and baking. Cooking is also much healthier since heat distribution allows the oven to cook with no or very small quantity of butter or oil (preferably olive oil).
Speed is one of the most important advantages of the halogen oven. Most of them prepare the food or recipe at least 40% faster than conventional ovens – or even more. Fast cooking also means less energy. Combined with halogen and convection technology that generally consume less energy, halogen ovens instantly mean a cut on your electricity bills – without any compromises in the quality of your cooking.
Ease of use is also a distinguishing characteristic of the halogen ovens. Most of them come with two analogue dials or digital controls, one for setting the timer and another for the temperature or cooking mode. Digital controls are also considered to be a bit more accurate. Some ovens also have a display for numerical countdowns, making it easier for you to check how much cooking time it remains. Last but not least, since halogen ovens are usually made of heat-proof glass, they allow you to check the cooking process without opening the lid and monitor the food’s colour.
What is the difference between a halogen oven and a microwave oven?
Microwave ovens use a different kind of technology to heat food, which creates an electromagnetic field to vibrate water molecules. While microwave cooking has been a subject of controversy, due to some speculation that this kind of technology damages and depletes the nutritional value of certain foods, nothing has been proven or even said against using infrared halogen light in cooking.
Halogen ovens are also far more versatile, affording a far wider range of cooking modes. You cannot roast, fry, or BBQ in a microwave oven, whereas in a halogen oven you can, but you can heat in it – which is basically the main use of the microwave oven.
What are the main accessories of halogen oven?
Halogen ovens usually come with some basic accessories that make it easier and safer to use. These accessories, aside from the bowl and the lid, which are indispensable, include:
- racks, usually two, a high and a low one;
- tongs, which are necessary to manage the steaming hot ingredients;
- a lid stand, which allows the user to rest the lid in a (usually) vertical position, thus taking much less space on the kitchen top and helping you keep the hot bulb grill away from direct contact with its surface;
- “extender rings”, which are designed to “sit” between the bowl and the lid and thus increase considerably the capacity of the oven, often by 30, 40 or even 50%;
- baking tray and a steamer tray;
- a replacement spare bulb; it is not considered standard equipment and you seldom find this one offered with the appliance. In most cases, you have to buy it separately in case you need it.
How can I choose the best halogen oven?
Consider the following factors and characteristics:
- Your budget
Halogen ovens start at around £30 and reach as much several hundred or even thousand pounds (for professional models). Most commercial models though remain with the £30-120 range.
- Proper Capacity
If you live alone or with your spouse, then anything between an 8-litre and a 10-litre oven capacity is more than enough. If you have a family, check out for halogen ovens of at least 12 litres. The last thing you need is to have to cook twice or thrice the same meal every day to cater to the needs of a big family. A large oven is certainly a nicer solution.
- Your Space
Most halogen ovens measure around 15.7 inches (40 cm) in diameter, but best make sure how much space you have in your countertop before picking one. Also check the length of the mains cord, which is usually between 1 to 3 feet. Obviously, a cord extension could resolve a possible problem, but surely the less extra equipment you will need to use the oven the better.
- Programmed Cooking Modes
Most halogen ovens have two or three pre-programmed cooking modes to help inexperienced cooks and make meal preparation as fast as possible. Naturally, the more the cooking modes, the better.
Look for an oven that comes with an accessories kit – including with tongs, high and low racks and – if possible – a stand to hold the lid. If the latter is unavailable, check if the lid is hinged or not – which, unfortunately, is even less common in budget-friendly commercial halogen ovens. Trays for steaming, baking, etc. are also good additions, especially, if the oven comes with the corresponding cooking modes.
One of the most critical parts of a halogen oven is, of course, the halogen bulb, the source of heating of the appliance. Most of them last for a few years or more (when reasonably used in a domestic environment) and are cheap to replace. Still, having a ready replacement is always a nice thing, so also check whether the halogen oven you have picked offers one or not. Do not be disappointed, though, if it doesn’t; few oven manufacturers do provide extra bulbs.
Last, if you are interested in such things and put value on how your kitchen top looks, also take into consideration the colour and overall design of the oven, and make sure it matches the rest of the appliances and your kitchen’s style and decor.
Halogen ovens are fast, effective and economical, and will serve the needs of anyone who loves healthy, fast and versatile cooking. Ready to pick one yourself?
