Design & Features
Well-constructed and stylish, the Cocoda smart scale is compact and light, allowing you to easily move it around or hide it under the bed or bathroom sink. I am not sure though whether tall people with large feet will find it comfortable enough to stand on it.
The rounded corners help things, making it much more difficult to bump into something while pushing it around with your foot and cracking its surface. Still, its 6-mm tempered glass is much sturdier than it seems at first. It should be, since the maximum user weight is up to 400 lbs.
A reasonable worry with all budget-friendly smart scales is whether their measurements are accurate or not. Cocoda is equipped with two pairs of sensors that, as we found out, make a pretty good job. As claimed by the manufacturer, when we compared the results with other scales, both traditional and smart ones, the readings never exceed the 0.2 lb fudge factor. Note that it can measure both in pounds and kilograms.
This model is powered by AAA batteries. Lithium-ones are much better, but you can hardly expect that from such a low-priced model.
Readings are easy to see with the backlit led display, even within a dark room. Automations (Auto-off, Auto-calibration, Auto-zero) make things easier, and it was fairly easy to pair it with Cocoda’s smart app, allowing you to track your weight and BMI. You can also sync it with other fitness apps, including Apple Health, Google Fit, and Fitbit App. Still, pairing to an android device took some time, contrary to my iPhone, with which the whole process was a breeze.
Budget-friendly, compact, accurate in its measurements and stylish, Cocoda is great entry-level smart scale.
If you haven’t heard about Youngdo before, you don’t have to worry about the reliability and efficiency of its models. Affordable and, most importantly, reliable and durable, it will serve your needs for accurate measuring without taking too much space from your bathroom or bedroom.

Design & Features
Youngdo’s smart scale weighs less than 4 pounds (3.85 lbs to be exact) and it is pretty compact for a model with a maximum user weight of 396 lbs. Its weighing surface material is 6mm high tempered glass of excellent quality.
Measurement accuracy is a given with this model too. With readings given in both kg and lbs and equipped with four high-precision pressure sensors, it affords a measuring accuracy of 0.2 lbs at most.
Its Bioelectric Impedance Analysis technology allows you to check much more than the basic body metrics, including weight, BMI, body fat, visceral fat, body water, subcutaneous fat and bone density. In total, you get 23 different measurements. The bright LED light makes readings readable even in the dark.
Its connectivity is great. Scale Up, the dedicated app is straightforward and easy to use, but it could use an upgrade. What’s good is that it is compatible with other, much more sophisticated fitness apps, like Apple Health, Google Fit, or Fitbit App.
One of its most amazing capabilities is the number of users whose records and readings can be tracked – no less than 999 – surely catering to the needs of your family! What’s best is that records can be stored for years, with Amazon cloud being one of the storage options.
Activation, deactivation, connection and calibration are automatic, and all data can be easily shared on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
A great addition is its rechargeable battery, which means you don’t have to replace the batteries at all.
Youngdo’s smart scale is accurate, stylish, affordable and rechargeable, allowing use from multiple users and keeping track of their records for years.
Soreli is another smart scale that promises accurate measuring at an extremely low price. Let us see if it can compete with our other budget-friendly models.

Design & Features
Ok, Soreli’s innovative and minimalistic design easily fits even to the smallest bathroom, whereas the “feet” signs help you position yourself properly on the scale and ensure an accurate measurement. The surface is from sturdy tempered glass
Measuring depends on the usual BIA pairs of sensors that provide four kinds of data analysis and no less than 18 body function measurements, including protein amount and rate, visceral fat, moisture, BMI, muscle weight, BMR, body fat, BFR, and bone density. Margin error is less than 0.2 lbs, which is great.
Nice design features include the LED display and the touch key. Note that this model is powered by 4 AAA batteries, which is pretty much expected by a smart scale of this price range.
The possible number of users is not that high as in our previous model, even though the measurements are fewer too; up to 8 users can weigh themselves and access their personal weight histories, with the scale automatically recognising who is who. Still, the number easily caters to the needs of most families. On top of that, it has a baby mode, allowing you to keep track of the development and growth of the youngest member of the family.
As to synchronisation, the manufacturer uses Aifit app, which is available for iOS and Android, easy to set and use, but it may take a few attempts to pair it with your smart device. As soon as it does though, you will not have an issue. Every time you use the scale, the data are automatically transmitted via Wi-Fi in the app, and then be stored, compared and shared, making it easier to monitor your progress.
Something we did not like, is that the reading on the scale is given only in kilos. Still, you can see the lbs conversion in the app.
Another budget-friendly option, Soreli’s smart scale delivers accurate measurements and comes with a user-friendly app and a Baby mode!
4. KAMTRON Smart Body Fat Scale – Value for Money
Kamtron’s Smart Body Fat Scale seems to offer everything an average user could possibly need at a more than a reasonable asking price.

- Step-on Technology:
No buttons and switches.
Once reconnected, the data is instantly synchronized.
- Supports iOS 7.0/Android 4.3 or later devices.
- AAA Batteries included.
Design & Features
Powered by AAA batteries, weighing less than 3 pounds and being as compact as it could without being uncomfortable for people with large feet, Kamtron’s Smart Scale comes with a 6mm thick high-quality tempered glass pressure surface, strong enough to support a body of 400 lbs.
Underneath, BIA technology sensors deliver accurate measuring for 13 important body indexes, including body fat, BMI, visceral fat, bone mass, BMR, protein amount, water amount, metabolic age, bone density and muscle mass.
As most new smart scales, it is equipped with Step – Up technology: it is activated as soon as you step on it, recognising and logging in the user’s profile in a split second, without any need for pressing buttons and manually choose your profile. All data are instantly synchronised. Connection and calibration are both automatic.
Connectivity is excellent too. The app seems a bit obsolete and could use an upgrade, but pairing and setting up was pretty fast – although it required a couple of efforts. A serious issue is that it cannot be used by different users at the same time. Every time I tried to, the app crashed.
Measurement analysis proved impressively accurate, with a 0.2lb increment. They come up fast too; you get results in 4 seconds or so. All data can be synchronized with Apple Health, Google Fit and Fitbit App and shared on your Social Media accounts.
A great upgrade is the unlimited number of possible users.
Kamtron’s smart scale provides information on several key health indexes and, undeniably, is well worth the asking price.
Moving up the price scale a bit, we present the Eufy Smart Scale P1. Amazing design, simple and fast setup is straightforward and intuitive controls, all wrapped up in a reasonable price.

- Compatible with Third-Party Apps: Apple Health, Google Fit, and Fitbit App.
- Wireless: Bluetooth 4.2.
- Unit: kg/ lbs.
- ITO Technology.
- Bio-Impedance Analysis.
- EufyLife App.
Design & Features
As already mentioned, this is definitely one of the most beautifully designed smart scales available today. Aside from its nice dark-coloured finish and curved corners, averting the danger of bumping into pointed edges and breaking the surface, whereas the low, stable design ensures stability for the user.
Still, its anti-slip top plate, made from tempered glass, is strong enough to withstand as much as 397 lbs.
Activation, calibration and activation are automatic (Step – up technology), and readings are fast and given in a bright whitish colour, seen easily even when lights are out. All data are almost synced to your smart device, from where you can store it and share it on social media accounts. You can also sync them to Apple Health Kit, Google Fit and Fitbit.
A nice feature is the fast and hassle-free conversion from pounds to kilograms and back.
Measurements proved extremely accurate, thanks to its efficient BIA technology, as well as the ITO coating layered on the surface of the Scale. Bluetooth connectivity is fast, affording readings almost momentarily. Setting up and pairing was fast and quick – the quickest of all budget-friendly smart scales we had tried so far.
The Eufy Home app allows you to keep a record of your progress and health trends, and if more members of your family wish to use it, then the scale automatically recognises the user and syncs his or her data. Note that all data is encrypted before being transmitted from the scale to your smart device to ensure privacy.
Still, the app is actually the bigger problem with this model: it shows trends for just 4 of the 14 measurements – which is a shame for a model of such sophistication. The app’s home screen could also show more information without clicking for more, but that is not so big a deal for me.
One problem though is that body fat measurements can be considered accurate only for adults or underage people above 13 years old. This is true for several smart scales, who either do not recommend the use of their scale from underage persons or do not guarantee accurate measurements for the, due to the ongoing changes to their body.
Still, personally, I would expect a Baby mode at this price range.
Still, this should not be a problem, for kids that have serious reasons to monitor their body fat should do that on the professional scale of a doctor.
Eufy’s Smart Scale could easily be the top of its game if the app was a bit better. Still, design, measurements and efficiency of the scale itself are worth the asking price.
The definition of simplicity, Triomph’s smart scale is much pricier from entry-level models of our list. Let us find out why and whether it is worth it.
At a Glance
- Brand: Triomph
- High Accuracy Within 0.2 lb/0.1 kg
- 4 advanced high-precision sensors, measuring:
- Jet Black/Pearl White colours with extra-large easy-to-read LCD backlit screen.
- Material: Strong tempered glass.
- Maximum User Weight: up to 400 lbs/180 kg.
- Smart Step-On Technology:
Scale calibrates itself automatically
Instant accurate readout as soon as you step on the scale.
Non-slip feet and scratch-resistant feet to keep the scale in place without damaging your floors.
- High-End Functions:
Includes low battery and overload indication to maximize battery life
- Power: 2 AAA batteries (included).
- Warranty: 1-year warranty and 30-day money-back service.
Design & Features
Design-wise, this model is as minimalistic as it gets, while breathing a sophisticated elegance, regardless of the colour you choose (Jet Black, Pearl White): an almost monochromatic pressure surface with only two lines forming the figure you probably dream of every time you start a diet, which also helps you position your feet properly. In fact, deactivated is scarcely noticeable.
The LCD backlit screen displays figures with surprisingly big and bright numerals, making it very easy to read even for a short-sighted elderly. The tempered glass is able to withstand a maximum of 400 lbs. The non-slip and scratch-resistant feet keep the scale in place without any risk of damaging a wooden floor.
As we would expect from a model of this price, everything is automated (activation, calibration, connection, user recognition), with advanced Step-On technology that delvers accurate readings almost the moment you stand on the scale for no less than 16 body indexes.
Measurements were indeed accurate, mainly because of the high-precision sensors, and connectivity was good and I did not have a single problem pairing it with both my Android and iOS devices, but the app was a disappointment. Actually, I had to use a third-party app to check the extra features and make the most of the data. From there, it was easy to store them and post them on my social media accounts. Still, it was quite disappointing that the model comes without a decent, dedicated app.
One more thing we would expect though from a model of this price is lithium-batteries instead of the AAA batteries.
So, what about the price? What is the difference between this scale compared to a cheaper model? Well, the manufacturer claims that it is its construction quality, durability and lack of problems over the course of time, but during our limited period of trial, we obviously could not verify that. It is true, though, that most displeased buyers have a problem with the manufacturer’s app, not with the scale itself.
Personally, I think that the lack of a decent app is a crime for a scale of this quality, both regarding its construction and functionality. Still, you can check and use the readings through another app. Whether the manufacturer’s claim of durability convinces you to pay a little more than you would for an entry-level smart scale, it is up to you.

Design & Features
Aria 2 is not exactly cheap. With a price two times higher than some of the models we presented in our list, we obviously expect all the usual features, such as multiple health indexes, ease of use, multiple users capability, step-on technology, instant readings etc. Let us focus on whether there are characteristics that justify the higher price.
To be frank, the only characteristics that seem to justify the higher price is the claim of measurement accuracy, and the reliability of the model, both in terms of construction quality, and software.
Indeed, the casing and overall construction of the scale seems and feels considerably superior to cheaper models. Complaints about flaws and malfunctions are few – and surely considerable fewer than for cheaper smart scales.
Connectivity is beyond reproach, whereas Fitbit’s fitness app is far user-friendlier, sophisticated and intuitive from that of any other competitor. Note though that all users need to have a Fitbit account. Otherwise, they will only get weight measurements. This was a bit disappointing since older models had a “guest” mode.
As to measurement accuracy, indeed we found it to be impeccable, even for indexes that have been under scrutiny, as the body fat. Still, we saw a similar performance to cheaper models too. Error margin remains within the standard 0.2-lb limit, so nothing impressive here either.
To sum it up, if you are a Fitbit fan, if you value reliability, you are fed up with mediocre smart scale apps, and, of course, if you are willing to spend some extra pounds, then Aria 2 is certainly an excellent option. Still, several of these characteristics can be found to cheaper models, which, on the other hand, do not boast similar durability and construction quality.
It is up to you.
Why is Regular Weighing Important?
Daily weighing is not necessary just for your figure. Is first and foremost important for our health. Our weight and mass index are two of the most important factors for overall wellness, and deviations from normal levels often indicate a more or less serious health issue.
Hence, monitoring our weight on a regular basis is important to protect our health and adopt a lifestyle that ensures its preservation in healthy levels.
In addition to that, weighing on a daily or even weekly basis is a key part of any given diet and fitness program, keeping you focused and feeding your determination to achieve your goals – especially if they require a long-term effort.
Still, there is a problem here. Actually, there are several problems.
What is the Problem with Traditional Scales?
Conventional scales tell you just one thing: your weight. Judging your state of health or fitness progress just by that is often deceiving and, sometimes, even dangerous. What is healthy and what not when it comes to weight is determined by a number of factors, which are not seen or monitored with traditional scales.
A smart scale is by far the best and easiest solution to all these issues. Being one of the latest trends in the health technologies field, it has helped millions of people make strides in their efforts for a healthier and more beautiful body.
What is a Smart Scale?
A smart scale is a bathroom scale that connects with other smart devices and communicates data to them, displaying to the user several metrics of his/her overall health, sharing the data and allowing their storage for future reference.
This data usually includes the person’s heart rate, body fat, hydration level, bone density, and body mass index. They can be easily transmitted to smartphone or tablet and create a history. Most smart scales can be synchronised with fitness trackers and several health applications, thereby offering additional information, capabilities and benefits.
How Does a Smart Scale Work?
A smart scale is equipped with mechanisms using BIA (bioelectric impedance analysis) technology to collect data from the user’s body. The procedure is pretty simple: a very weak, unnoticeable electrical current passes through the user’s body from the feet. The body’s reaction is translated to several types of information, which has been found rather consistent, painting a pretty accurate picture of the state of the body at that particular moment.
This data is then shareable to other devices via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Most smart scales use either dedicated or compatible apps, which enable you to send them to friends and relatives, or to your doctor or personal trainer, thus ensuring a more tailored and effective diet or medical care.
What Do Smart Scales Measure?
As already mentioned, smart scales usually measure the user’s heart rate, body fat, hydration level, bone density, and body mass index. Let us learn a few things about their importance.
The heart rate, both during exercise and during rest is a very important index of your overall health and body state. The best thing about a smart scale is that it keeps a record for this measurement, allowing you to get a good idea of your status in an extended course of time.
This is a very important factor, especially for people that are on a diet, for the last thing you want is to burn muscle instead of fat – which is more than frequent and can pose a real threat to one’s health. A smart scale allows you to monitor your body fat index in the course of time and see whether the pounds lost over the last weeks or months were muscle or fat and if the diet you follow is indeed doing what is supposed to.
Often, obese people retain in their body excessive amount of water, while their fat levels are normal. A scale that can tell you how much water does your body have can prove a valuable ally, both to you and to your doctor, helping both of you focus on the right direction.
In addition, knowing your hydration level can also tell you whether you drink enough water or not. Chronic dehydration can cause serious problems to your health.
Body Mass Index (BMI)
Needless to say, Body Mass Index is one of the most important indicators of your health’s state. it combines your height and weight and reveals whether you are underweight, overweight, or obese.
Obviously, a high BMI (e. g. above 24.9) usually signifies obesity and requires immediate medical attention, exercise and diet, as well as important changes in your lifestyle.
This index is of the essence for people that work out and wish to build muscle and increase their overall strength. While a conventional scale will only show whether you gained weight or not, a smart scale will reveal whether your weight gain or loss involved muscle mass – and thus give you a good idea of whether your diet and workouts do have an effect or not.
Smart scales can also measure the density of your bones. A low bone mass indicates a risk of osteoporosis, a serious ailment that can cause serious injuries and affect your lifestyle.
A regular bone mass measurement will enable you to adjust your diet, exercise, and nutrition to prevent further bone loss or at least decelerate the problem.
Which are Some Basic Characteristics of Smart Scales?
Most smart scales use batteries for power. Cheaper ones usually have AAA batteries, but more advanced smart scales are equipped with lithium-ion batteries, which last much longer.
Maximum Weight Capacity
This is an important feature you need to verify before picking a smart scale. You have to make sure that it can sustain your weight and work properly. If you have a big family, naturally take into consideration the heaviest member.
Most smart scales come with a capacity of 400 lbs, but make sure to check the specs of the manufacturer.
Number of Users
A truly smart scale will allow you to create multiple profiles and make its use possible for all members of the family. Most models will be able to recognise the user as soon as he or she steps on it and instantly receive their personal health data and assign it to their profile. Some advanced models even come with a “baby mode” or “pregnancy mode” to differentiate readings for new mothers!
Indeed, a smart scale is an excellent tool not just for athletes or people that wish to lose weight, but for anyone that takes his or her health seriously and wishes to improve and protect it.
