One-touch blending action with angled stainless steel blades
Easy-clean, detachable, dishwasher-safe blades and blending bottles
A mere glance and its design traits are easy to spot. Featuring a bright and flashy colour (which I love but others may find a bit… too much), an ergonomic grip and a surprisingly low weight, the Breville VBL062 is a breeze to clean, can be tossed in the dishwasher, it detaches in a blink of an eye and is very easy to use, with the manufacturing excelling in its one-touch operation – which, by the way, is quieter than ever.
Breville VBL062 has no problem in blending most tough materials, such as ice or fully frozen vegetables, chunks of fruit or coffee beans – and all that in a just a few seconds, but do not expect it to pulverize them. It is easy to use though: just toss in whatever comes to mind (as far as its edible of course) and in less than a minute you will have a delicious, hearty and healthy smoothie! You can also make great soups from vegetables, or even hummus!
Among its most handy offers, its 600ml BPA-free blender bottle, which does remind us of a protein shaker – except this one is designed to prevent the buildup of food or powder particles on the edges. Everyone that has ever used a protein shaker knows well how nerve-breaking is the process of cleaning that stuff out again and again! You also prepare your drink directly in the bottle, negating any need to transfer it elsewhere.
The same is true for the additional bottle, which allows you to prepare an extra smoothie that will rejuvenate you later in the day. The best thing about them is that cool athletic looks, allowing you to sue them for your weekly workouts in the park or gym, place on the side of your backpack or bike cup holder. In the meantime, their lockable lid averts any awkward spills and the consequent mess in your car or clothes.
Last, we can’t but praise Breville’s price tag for this truly wonderful personal blender.
Where to start? Great one-touch operation, much less nose, mighty motor and grinding power – all at a very affordable price. Its wattage is a bit small, but if you plan to use it mostly for vegetables and fruits, it will prove more than adequate.
LaHuko battery-powered portable blender falls into the category of the so-called “portable blenders”, that is mini hand-held blenders that are easy to carry around with you inside your backpack during a day out in the countryside, the beach or the gym. Easy to use, handy and affordable, it is an amazing solution for people that wish to be able to prepare their nutritious drinks anywhere they wish to.
Let’s take a closer look.

- Battery Life: 20 times blending on 3-5 hours once full charged
- One-button Cleaning/Blending
The first thing we should point out is that the material used for the drinking components of the blender is made of BPA free, non-toxic food-grade material. Next, designed first and foremost to be portable, you will instantly be surprised of how lightweight it is – a little less than 350 grams, making it very easy to carry around with you in a bag.
As to its operation, it comes with two-speed levels, one running at 12000rpm, and the other one at twice that speed. Equipped with six stainless steel blades capable of blending all sorts of ingredients, including hard ones, like small ice cubes, seeds or frozen fruits, it has proven surprisingly powerful – surely more powerful than most conventional mixers. Still, compared to more expensive personal blenders, it is far inferior in terms of might; but for a portable blender, this is close to the best you can expect.
All you need to do is put your fruit, vegetables or other ingredients sliced into the cup, add some water and/or other liquids as well as ice, tighten the cup body and base, double click the switch, and then turn the cup body upside down. After its done, turn the cup upside down and unscrew the base – and you are ready.
Naturally, as with all portable appliances, battery life is a major issue. The LaHuko blender comes with a 4000mAh rechargeable battery. When fully charged, it can produce as much as 15 – 25 cups (depending on the ingredients), and then requires 3 hours more or less to recharge.
Last, it is really easy to clean too. Its self-cleaning mode requires just a small amount of water and you press the button. It will do the rest. Unfortunately, though, this applies only to the cup. The base is not as easy to clean if stained.
Another con is the absence of a sip-and-seal lid and spill-proof lid, which, more or less, makes it a bit difficult to drink from the cup, especially while walking. Still, the price of the appliance is far too low to expect such additions.
If you want a budget-friendly personal blender that can be carried with you wherever you go, then LaHuko is certainly an excellent pick.
Next pick is the Imurz portable blender and Smoothie maker. Slightly more expensive than our previous picks, it proved indeed a bit more durable and effective – and equally as portable.

Designed to be portable and serve your smoothie and healthy beverages cravings, be it fruit and vegetable juice, milkshakes, energy drinks, whenever and wherever you may be, the gym, the office, or your camping.
With a wattage of 350 watts and 4 stainless steel blades, it is certainly powerful enough for a portable blender. Of course, you should not expect it pulverize seeds and nuts or be able to handle properly ingredients as tough as coffee beans, but, when helped with plenty of liquid, it can easily chop pieces of carrots and unripe apples, or even crush ice – but it would be a shame to stress it so much since it is prone to overheating.
Generally speaking, if you have realistic expectations and use it for what it was designed to do, you will have no problems for at least a year or two.
Operation-wise, it is very easy to use. With its one-button operation, all you have to do is to toss in the ingredients into the cup, place the cup on the power base, press one button – and you are done. A nice feature is the security lock, designed to allow the blender to work only when the cup is properly connected to the motor.
Well-accessorized for a portable blender, Imurz comes with a pair of portable BPA-free bottles and lids, all dishwasher-free.
As to noise, for its watts is a bit loud, but nothing too annoying, especially if you consider the amount of time it requires to blend the ingredients. As to cleaning, all you have to do is put some water and soap inside the bottle, mix it for a few seconds and then rinse it under the tap.
With all the limitations you would expect from a portable blender, Imurz will certainly cater to your needs and not let you down, provided you use it for what it was designed to do.
4. VonShef Personal Blender – Value-for-Money
Moving on to more powerful and versatile blenders, we present the VonShef personal blender. According to the manufacturer, it is “faster than a bullet, fiercer than a ninja.” Ok, sure there is a lot of exaggeration in that statement, but we found indeed that speed and efficiency are indeed some of the most distinguishing traits of this unit.
At a Glance
- Bran: VonShef
- Model: 13/283
- Colour: Black
- Weight: 998 g
- Volume Capacity: 0.8 litres
- Power/ Wattage: 1000 watts
- Dimensions: 39.5 x 15 x 15 cm
- Included in the package:
1 x Large 800ml (BPA-free)
1 x Medium 500ml Cup (BPA-free)
1 x Spill-Proof Lid
1 x Sip & Seal Lid
- Rotation Speed: 25,000 RPM speed
- Multi-Functional: Sports Drinks, Protein Shakes, Healthy Fruit and Vegetable Juices, Thick Smoothies and Milkshakes – It Can Blend Ice too
- Dishwasher Safe
- Warranty: 2 Years
Undeniably VonShef knows how to combine looks with efficiency. Well designed, with a stylish finish, it is certainly one of the most beautiful blenders of our list.
Again, as it should be, all parts of the appliance that come in contact with your drink, like the 800ml and the 500ml cups – are BPA-free. The spill-proof lid and sip-and-seal lid (BPA-free too) are great additions too, making it much easier to carry them around to the gym, the college, or at work. Note that you can put them in the dishwasher without fear.
Just consider the difference: our previous pick featured a wattage of 200 Watts. This one boasts one of a 1000 Watts! Combined with a rotation speed of 25,000 RPM and stainless steel pro extractor blades, VonShef’s personal blender certainly has what it takes to produce fast your smoothie or beverage, no matter the ingredients you choose: fruits and vegetables, seeds, stems and skins, hard ice – all will be pulverized while preserving their precious nutrients.
Indeed, whatever we used (carrots, beetroots, unripe apples, unpeeled cucumbers, nuts etc.) the result was a smooth, pulp-free and tasty beverage. It proved excellent at crushing ice too. Stable, despite its speed and might, it coped with every ingredient we challenged it with, thus becoming one of the most versatile picks of our list, ideal for all sorts of drinks and beverages.
So, what’s the downside in this small wonder. Well, as anyone would expect from a mid-range priced personal blender, its construction quality is far from prime. While we did not have the chance to use it for a considerable amount of time to judge by ourselves, several buyers have commented that, with regular, daily use, it cannot last more than three years or so.
Well-designed, powerful and fast, VonShef’s personal blender do delivers, but its low construction quality will take its toll after a couple of years or daily use.
Again, the next pick of our short personal blender list is meant for the busy ones, who still value their breakfast too much to venture out of the house without properly nourishing their body.
The Ninja BN495UK is just ideal for smoothie lovers that wish to make their life as easier as possible. Featuring a dedicated smoothie maker, it comes with Auto-IQ, that is preset programs activated with a simple push of a button and designed to produce your favourite beverages exactly as you like them. The added manual pulse and Start/Stop modes make dips, dressings, batters and desserts preparation a breeze, whereas the motor boasts a 1,000W might, grinding fruits, seeds, vegetables and ices in just a few seconds.

Auto-IQ Technology – One-touch blending programs
Stainless-steel Pro Extractor Blade for super-smooth results
Easy to Use – Simple Controls, Manual Settings and Dishwasher-Safe Parts
Includes 2 x 700ml Cups with Lids, Pro Extractor Blade, Recipe Guide
First, we must comment on its size and weight, since it is much less bulky and hefty than most of its competitors and predecessors. The best thing about it is its considerably smaller size does not take a toll on its stability or sturdiness. It is equipped with base suckers for minimum vibration during operation. The base also features a nice black and silver finish, with a front touchpad.
Operation-wise, it has four buttons, namely Pulse, Start/Stop, Blend and Max Blend, circling a timer display counting down or up, depending on the selected operation mode.
The BN495UK comes with two 700ml cups. You also get a Pro Extractor blade unit, with two pairs of angled blades projecting up and out and a pair of central blades, screwing into the cups as soon as they’re filled. Then, the whole system twists and locks into the base, activating the display and signalling you to press the button of your selection and start blending.
Note though that you cannot use it to hot food or dry ingredients – but this is not why one would buy it in the first place.
As soon as your drink is ready, just top the cup with its screw-in flip-top lid and you are ready to go and enjoy it whenever and wherever you wish. True, these lids seem a bit tricky at first (since they screw into the cups’ interior), but you will soon get the hang of their use. The spout cover though could extend a bit more and make drinking easier – but nothing is perfect in life.
There is a thing about the initial fitting of blades, because of their length, but everything becomes easier after the first time. Its mighty 1000-watt motor grinds anything that stands between solid ice and fruits and vegetables, always in less than 50 seconds, producing a thick, thoroughly blended smoothies, without traces of uncut ingredients.
Washing it is pretty simple and easy; besides, all its food-contacting parts can be placed in the dishwasher safely. Just mind the blades, for they are really sharp. The manufacturer could provide us with a cleaning brush.
Included in the package is a small book with no less than thirty recipes, with concise instructions on how to mix ingredients and get the best possible results, regarding both taste and nutritional value.
Sturdy, effective, easy to use and wash, what more can you ask for your daily smoothie blender?
Moving on, we come across two members of one of the most popular and widely known personal blender series – Magic Bullet. Our first pick is the NutriBullet Pro 900, which boasts far better construction quality from our previous picks while remaining affordable. Let’s take a closer look at its features and characteristics.
At a Glance
- Brand: NutriBullet
- Colour: Champagne
- Weight: 3.2 Kg
- Dimensions: 30 x 17.5 x 34.5 cm
- Capacity: 0.93 litres
- Volume Capacity: 0.93 litres
- Power/ Wattage: 900 watts
- Material: Aluminum
- Perfect for making cool beverages, smoothies, juices, protein shakes or sports drinks
- Able to Process Seeds, Stems, and Tough Skins of Fruits and Vegetables
- Quick and Easy Clean
- The Package Includes:
1 x High Torque Power Base
1 x Extractor Blade
1 x Oversized Cup (909ml)
1 x Tall Cup (680ml)
1 x Handled Comfort Lip Ring
1 x Flip-Top Lid
1 x Stay-Fresh Lid
1 x User Manual with Recipes
1 x Pocket Nutritionist
The best way to describe the NutriBullet Pro 900 is as “value for money”. Surely it is of far superior quality to all other budget-friendly options we have checked so far, but it is still relatively low priced, which translates to medium durability and a lack of fancy features.
Compact and relatively lightweight, the blender comes with 700g and a 900g cup, both made from BPA-free material. Sadly, the plastic, while of good quality, is a bit thin, thus more sensitive. Still, it is perfect for people with small kitchen tops or those that wish to take it with them during their holidays or weekend excursions.
Equipped with a set of 6-pronged stainless steel blades, it had no trouble even with the hardest unripe fruits and vegetables. Still, while superior to anything we have seen until now, these blades will excel only for a year or so. After that, you will have to replace them if you wish to have the same speed and efficiency.
A nice addition is the internal overheat sensor, designed to automatically shut down the blender if it overheats. This is not very probable to happen (at least based in our experience), but it is certainly a valuable feature, especially if you consider how difficult and non-worth it to replace parts in such an appliance.
Boasting a might of 900 Watts, NutriBullet Pro 900 is certainly one of the most powerful blenders of its price range, capable of handling most ingredients. And we say “most” instead of all just because of the blades, which could be a bit stronger. Note though that it tends to overheat when you use it consecutively several times. While it comes with an internal overheating sensor that will automatically shut the machine off in case it overheats, better let it cool off for some time before using it again.
Another downside is the single speed setting. Sure, this makes it a lot easier to use, but it reduces its versatility – something we should expect in a blender of this price range.
As already mentioned, this model lacks the bells and whistles of the pricey models. For example, there is no pulse button (essential for certain types of beverages, smoothies and toppings), which means you must produce the effect yourself, with short bursts. No preset programs too.
On the other hand, you get an array of handy and well-designed accessories. Apart from the cups, you get a handled lip ring and a sip-and-seal lid for taking beverages drinks on the go.
Performance-wise, and considering its blades where brand new, the NutriBullet Pro 900 simply excelled. The only ingredient it seemed to have some trouble handling where coffee beans – which, admittedly, is one of the toughest possible. All the other seeds, vegetables, fruits, frozen ingredients and ice etc. where chopped nicely enough. Seeds and nuts were not exactly pulverized, but, personally, I had no problem with that. Just make sure that there is the necessary amount of liquid inside the blender before crushing ice or other really hard ingredients.
The NutriBullet Pro 900 is very easy to clean too. Its cups are dishwasher safe (but not the blades).
Since we have gone up the price scale, we should mention something about the noise. The NutriBullet Pro 900 is not exactly quiet. In fact, compared to other personal blenders, it is pretty loud, but this is understandable if you take into account its powerful motor.
The NutriBullet Pro 900 is a decent value-for-money option. You get exactly what you pay. It is as efficient and durable as you would expect from this price range. Lacking the fancy features of pricier models, but being much more reliable and efficient than cheaper ones, it will serve you well for the whole period covered by the warranty.
7. NutriBullet Rx – The Best Choice
NutriBullet RX is by far the best personal blender of the series – “the most powerful and technologically advanced NutriBullet to date”, according to the manufacturer. We certainly agree.
Meeting the ever-growing needs and wants of modern consumers, the NutriBullet RX N17-1001 boasts a formidable torque guaranteeing the prime pulverizing of anything you can imagine as a smoothie ingredient, from tender vegetables and ripe fruits to hard-core nuts and ice. The best thing about it though is that it is designed to make soups and sauces – a trait its predecessors lacked. Note also that it features a free-hand smart technology and exceptionally easy operation.

Hardback Recipe Book
NutriBullet RX integrates a power base, cups, the extractor blade and the soup blaster, which is a new addition to the NutriBullet series. In total, you will find ten different parts in the package. Note that due to its multiple uses, it requires careful reading of the user’s manual to operate it properly.
With an automatic start and a 7-heat cycling (for soups and sauces), the NutriBullet Rx N17-1001 boasts a 1700W wattage and a mighty 2.3 horsepower, as well as an innovative hands-free smart technology, making its use and operation even easier than older models. Unfortunately, the noise is loud, which surely is understandable considering that is twice as powerful as the 900 Pro – but still, bear in mind that you will probably wake up anyone still sleeping when you’ll use it in the kitchen.
The extractor blade, designed to extract the juice from vegetables and fruits, it is powerful and sturdy enough to break dried fruits, nuts or ice – certainly an upgrade compared to the cheaper models of the series. There is also a blade remover that allows to safely remove the blade in case it gets stuck or needs some rinsing. Still, you should expect them to get blunt after a year or so, especially if you plan to use them on a daily basis with hard ingredients.
Possibly the most winning trait of the RX is its Autosmart technology. Instead of integrating multiple speed modes, it is pre-programmed to operate at the proper speed for each ingredient combo, as well as start and stop at the right intervals for the proper amount of time. Personally, I always prefer a multi-speed mode combo, which affords the user full control of the blending process. Still, the RX performed well with all the ingredients we tested it with – even with the coffee beans who proved a bit too tough for the NutriBullet 900 Pro. Most of the seeds and nuts were pretty much pulverized too.
Next, we have the Souper blast pitcher, designed to extract ingredients for soup making. Its vented lid allows heat and pressure to outflow, and the pitcher’s spout turns serving into a breeze.
Considering its might, it is certainly a good thing that it is rated with an A energy efficiency class. Obviously, you would not expect to cut on your electricity bills from your personal blender, but if you have a big family and all of you use it on a daily basis, it is surely a nice addition.
Contrary to most of its competitors, the NutriBullet RX comes with two cups, a small one, for tasting or serving small quantities, and a much bigger for uses that demand bigger quantities. Note that the small cup has a resealable lid with a twist and lock mechanism for fridge storing and moving around without spills. The pitcher’s lid is another handy accessory, guaranteeing proper hygiene, transportation and storage.
Overheating remains an issue for this model too. It is certainly equipped with an automatic overheat sensor/breaker, which shuts off the motor if it overheats, but it is certainly a good idea to give it a minute or two to cool off if you have used it once or twice consecutively.
Last, as you will instantly find out, all food-contacting parts are very easy to clean.
NutriBullet RX is the firm’s crown jewel so far, delivering amazing smoothies, excellent soups and tasty sauces and boasting a truly great torque power, reasonable ranks among the three best personal blenders available in the market this year. It is certainly worth the premium.
The purchase of a kitchen appliance is, or rather, should never be, the result of whim, particularly if you wish to use it on a daily basis.
A personal blender can be the best ally for your health and looks, as long as you pick one that indeed meets your needs and wants. Below you will find some useful tips on what to consider before making your choice.
- Its Size & Accessories
Most personal blenders come with a single cup – those that have a pair or more usually feature bigger size, especially in their base. So, the first thing to consider is how much space you have available in your kitchen top. The compacter the personal blender is the better, yet you shouldn’t sacrifice efficiency or performance over size.
If you have to prepare smoothies just for yourself or your spouse, things are simpler. But if you have to tend for the needs of your several children, or generally of more than four or five persons, you should consider buying a standard-sized blender. The bigger personal blenders available today cater to the needs of no more than three persons.
Accessories are also an important factor but do not fall in the trap of sheer numbers. Sometimes manufacturers include in the package all sorts of useless or barely useful bells and whistles in an effort to convince the buyer of how ‘reasonable’ the price is. Check them out carefully; make sure you understand what each accessory is meant for and see whether you really need it or ever use it. Otherwise, you will just pay for the same stuff at a premium, getting no real value in return.
- Its Speed
When it comes to speed, the more settings the better, especially if you plan to use your personal blender not just for smoothies, but for soups, milkshakes and sauces too. Besides, not all vegetables, fruits or other ingredients require the same torque or speed during blending. A pulse button would be a welcome addition too.
- Its Power
While 300-500 watts are generally considered pretty adequate for the typical workload of a personal blender, really tough materials require a much bigger wattage. If you plan to consistently use really hard nuts or ice, better pick a personal blender of more than a thousand watts.
- Its Price
The price should, in this case, be considered last; you don’t want to buy anything that would come sort of your needs, just to save ten or twenty pounds. Besides, personal blenders are much cheaper than standard ones and price seldom is an issue. So, take some time to consider your needs and wishes and then spot the personal blender that will get the job done.
